2025 South Texas State Grade Championships
Hosted by The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV)

The 2025 South Texas State Grade Championships will take place at UTRGV’s Brownsville Campus in the Student Union (Room BSTUN 2.36) on November 8-9, 2025. This official state championship crowns champions in thirteen sections:

Kinder (includes Pre-K)
1st Grade
2nd Grade
3rd Grade
4th Grade
5th Grade
6th Grade
7th Grade
8th Grade
9th Grade
10th Grade
11th Grade
12th Grade

Eligibility: Open to Texas residents or students enrolled in Texas schools (including home schools). USCF and TCA memberships are required.

He serves as President of the Texas Chess Association and holds multiple certifications, including USCF Senior Tournament Director, USCF Certified Coach, FIDE Lead School Instructor, and FIDE National Arbiter. David has organized scholastic and online events. His focus is on strengthening Texas chess by improving access, raising recognition, and growing community engagement.
