Election day is here! Voting started at 1:00pm today for the 2026 TCA Board election and will continue until 11:59pm on August 23 (Central Time). We encourage all eligible voters to participate in the election.

TCA is using Election Buddy to conduct the election. Ballot emails include “Election Buddy” in the sender line. If you have a family membership, it is possible that the same email address may receive multiple ballots, in which case the recipient should forward the extra ballots to the correct voters. Under the new bylaws, there is no longer an option to request a paper ballot.

All TCA members who were members and residents of Texas on June 30 and will be at least 16 years of age as of September 4 are eligible to vote. Most voting members will automatically receive ballots. However, if you meet this criteria and any of the following applies, you may need to contact us to request an electronic ballot:

  • We do not have an email address on file for you or your email is a bad address
  • The email on file is only a coach or school address shared by several players
  • We do not have a birthdate for you or your birthdate is obviously incorrect
  • You were a nonresident when you purchased your membership but moved to Texas on or before June 30
  • Your membership expired in July or August but you were a voting member on June 30

If you are missing a ballot, please check your spam and junk folders. If you cannot find it there, email us as soon as possible. If you did not receive a ballot due to missing or incorrect information, please include the correct information in your request email. If your membership is expired but you were a member on June 30, you will need to renew it and provide proof in your request email. If you do not send your request to the admin email by August 21, it is possible you will not receive a ballot in time to vote.

You can find candidate statements here. The two candidates who receive the most votes will be elected as members of the Board of Directors for a four-year term. Election results will be announced at the annual membership meeting.

There are also three survey questions on the ballot. These questions are non-binding and do not affect the election. Voters who do not wish to answer them may abstain. The Board will consider the feedback received as we improve our events and programming to better serve the Texas chess community. We are grateful for your continued support of TCA!
