Congratulations to IM Zura Javakhadze for his 1st Place in the Open Section of the Southwest Open! As previously mentioned, he achieved an amazing 7-0 record in the process, finishing 1.5 points ahead of second place! In addition to the title, Zurab earned the $1,000 1st Place prize!

Winning the Top Collegiate Player Special Award in the Open Section was IM Aaron Grabinsky, from UT-Dallas. For his Special Collegiate Award, Aaron won $200 and an additional $500 second place prize! In the Reserve Section. There was a two-way tie between Shourya Pandey and Havish Nagasai Kunchanapalli, each earning $600! The Novice Section was won by Will Glaesser with a perfect 7-0! For his efforts, Will won $500. Congratulations to all the winner and thanks to all players who participated!
The SWO had 226 players registered in three sections (Open, Reserve and Novice), including 75 in the top section! The Chief Arbiter for the event is NTD/FA Louis Reed and his Deputy Chief Arbiter is STD/FA Melanie Kneen.
