Nicole Niemi (from Garland) won 2019 Texas Women’s Chess Champion on tie-breaks over Woman International Master Alexey Root, Ph.D. (from Denton), the 1998 Texas Women’s Chess Champion. Both ended the four-round event with 3.5 points.

Both players performed as exemplary champions throughout this Championship, in the North Richland Hills Library, during the period of August 17-18, 2019.
