Finishing ahead of the field of 30 senior players (including eight titled players), Scott Elliott of Austin won the 2024 Texas Senior Chess Championship with 4.5 points in five games. The Texas Senior Championship is only open to players over the age of 50. The winner represents Texas in the John T. Irwin National Tournament of Senior State Champions. Held in Euless, Texas, the 2024 event was organized by Arlington Chess Club and directed by Doug Stephens.
