Nominations

Nominations for the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer need to be submitted to the Editor of Texas Knights via email to texasknightsed@texaschess.org by 11:59:59 PM CDT on June 30, 2024.

Nominees must be members in good standing of the Texas Chess Association as well as residents of the state of Texas.

A candidate must be nominated to run for office. Self nominations are NOT allowed.

Nominees must notify the Editor of Texas Knights via email that a nomination has been accepted, and provide (optional) candidate statements and/or photos by July 7th, otherwise the assumption will be that a nomination has been declined.

Election Specifics

To be eligible to vote you must be a TCA member as of July 1, 2024, 16 years of age, and a resident of Texas.

Candidate information will be with the ballot you receive and in the July-August 2024 issue of Texas Knights.

Electronic ballots will be distributed to the email address that you supplied when you purchased your TCA membership. Distribution will begin around August 1st, 2024. The online election via electronic ballot will close as of August 23rd, 2024 at midnight.

Paper ballots can be requested by August 1st, 2024 and returned with a postmark no later than August 23rd, 2024. An electronic ballot will not be distributed if you request a paper ballot.

If you have a family membership, you will receive multiple ballots to the same email address. Children under 16 are not allowed to vote.

If you do not receive a ballot in your email inbox, please check your other folders such as spam, junk or promotions. If you still don’t find it, please contact one of the listed officials below so we can send you a paper ballot. The returned ballot must be postmarked no later than August 23rd, 2024.

The results of the election will be announced at the Southwest Open TCA Business Meeting. If there is no Southwest Open, there will be a teleconference to announce the results. Details about how to attend the teleconference will be posted on the TCA website and Facebook page.
