The Texas Chess Association is opening the new volunteer application for the 2026-27 fiscal year. You can apply here.

We welcome your interest in volunteering. Volunteers like you make this organization capable of serving thousands of chess players each year and growing Texas chess to new heights. Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in the lives of others, network with other volunteers and grow personally and professionally. We would love to have you join us!

You can volunteer for any or all of the following opportunities: Operational committees, advisory committees, expert advisors and ambassadors. For committees, you can also express interest in leading the committee as a committee chair. All appointments will be made for the 2026-27 fiscal year and expire at the end of the annual membership meeting in September 2027. The Board of Directors will review and vote on the applications received. Full details are available in the Volunteer Policy.

Operating committees are the active, working committees that lead initiatives and projects throughout the year in four areas (Events, Development, Public Relations and Administrative). Advisory committees study issues referred to them and execute specific tasks as needed. Expert advisors and ambassadors are members of the Council of Advisors, which meets on a quarterly basis to advise the Board on TCA business. Ambassadors also represent a stakeholder group and collaborate with other volunteers to pursue initiatives and activities that support the needs of that group.

The application deadline is 11:59pm on Friday, September 25.
