The Texas Chess Association (TCA) is proud to announce the Jim Hollingsworth Memorial Scholarship, created to honor the legacy of one of our most dedicated leaders. Jim Hollingsworth served TCA in many roles, including Vice President, Acting Secretary, Facebook Administrator, Fundraising Chair, and Creativity Contest Chair. He organized two state championship events, mentored young leaders, secured bidders, and played a key role in growing TCA memberships. In 2024, Jim was honored with the US Chess Meritorious Service Award for his decades of contributions to Texas chess.
This scholarship recognizes outstanding young volunteers who demonstrate a commitment to growing chess in Texas and supporting their communities. It provides financial assistance to help them continue their educational journey and develop as the leaders of tomorrow.
